Size Matters

« Personne n’est parfait. Je suis moi-même particulièrement sensible aux courants d’air. » a écrit Oscar Wilde.  

Cette année j’ai essayé de questionner ma propre vision de la beauté et de ce que je perçoit comme un défaut. Comment embrasser l’erreur, la sublimer, au lieu de la fuir.  

Une texture étrange, un volume inattendu, un tee–shirt trop petit qui s’attrape dans un chignon…  

Dans une ère où chacun tente tant bien que mal d’être unique, où la perfection est la loi, comment prendre la contrepartie de façon ludique? Avec cette injonction constante de sublime, comment renouer avec la banalité?  

Comment apprendre à chérir cette partie de nous que nous tentons d’esquiver? 

« Size Matters » est une ode à la normalité, c’est ma déclaration d’amour à cette personne dans la rue qui porte un pantalon douze fois trop grand.

This year I tried to question my own vision of beauty and what I perceive as a default. How to embrace the mistake, to sublimate it, instead of running away from it.  

An odd texture, an unexpected volume, a tee-shirt that is too small and that get caught into a bun… 

In an era where everybody is trying to be unique, where the perfection rules the world, how to take the counterpart in a ludic way? With this constant injection of sublime, how to reconnect with banality? 

How to learn to cherish this part of us we are trying to avoid? 

« Size Matters » is an ode to normality, it is my love declaration to this person walking down the street who is wearing a pants twelve times too big.
